AFTER INDIA, PAKISTAN TO HOLD TALKS ON AFGHANISTAN, WITH US, CHINA AND RUSSIA

Pakistan is all set to hold a major set of talks of the special representatives of Afghanistan from the United States, China and Russia today. The meeting is taking place after a day Idia held talks in Delhi with seven major players in the issue of Afghanistan, which was not attended by China and Pakistan. ‘Troika Plus’, the title of the meeting will be chaired by Pakistan’s foreign affairs minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and its national Security Advisor Moeed Yusuf. Mr. Yusuf has declined the invitation to the Delhi Regional talks hosted by India. 

 

The diplomats who will take part in Pakistan’s meeting will be the US State Department’s Special Representative and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Afghanistan, Thomas West; Russia’s Special Afghanistan Envoy Zamir Kabulov; and China’s Special Envoy for Afghan Affairs Yue Xiaoyong. Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Amir Khan will represent the country which will be the central focus of the talks. Taliban’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Abdul Balkhi tweeted, “A senior delegation led by FM Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi will travel to Pakistan on Nov 10. Delegation will discuss enhancing ties, economy, transit, refugees and expanding facilities for the movement of people and will include ministers and working groups from finance and trade ministries”. Deputy spokesperson of the Taliban government Anaamullah Samangani said the visit will be a follow-up of Pakistan’s foreign minister’s visit to Kabul.

In english, this movie title means ‘The engagement is on monday’.  There is no surprise in the plot line; all of it is revealed in the title.  The story is about the making of an engagement and the joys and troubles involved.  Senna Hegde pulls off a regular story with exceptional craft. The highlight of the film is its climax.  The climax offers no pomp and show, no tearful departures, no melodramatic breakdowns, no revolutions, no rebellions, no glamour, not even the promised engagement.This film is a must watch not because it is extraordinary, but because it is very ordinary, and the brilliance is entirely in the balance the filmmaker maintained throughout.
