JAMMU AND KASHMIR: 2 TEACHERS KILLED IN GOVERNMENT SCHOOL ATTACK IN SRINAGAR

The principal and the teacher of a government school, located in Srinagar, were killed by militants on Thursday. The attack has been told to be a targeted one, and has brought back alarm in the newly declared union territory. The attackers reportedly stormed into the Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Srinagar’s Eidgah area and shot the principal and a teacher at close range, stated a government official. The classes were online and no students were present in campus. A total of seven people have been killed in the last 5 days, and this comes in less than 48 hours after three persons were shot in strikes.

Jammu and Kashmir Police chief said the organisation behind the attack is the “The Resistance Front” (TRF), and that the victims were from Hindu and Sikh communities. “The pistol-wielding men came into the school this morning and asked for the identity cards of the teachers and later fired at two teachers, one each from the minority Sikh and Hindu community,” reported Reuters quoting a school teacher.

The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah said in a TV news interview, “Are we going back to 95, 96..? When they say 370 has been removed, everything is hunky-dory. I want to ask the Home Minister”.

“I strongly condemn the barbaric killing of two of our teachers, Supinder Kaur and Deepak Chand by terrorists. A befitting reply will be given to the perpetrators of the heinous terror attacks on innocent people,” tweeted Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha

SATIRE DRIVEN, NON-MELODRAMATIC, FOCUSED, AND METICULOUSLY SCRIPTED; THIS MOVIE IS A WINNER THROUGH AND THROUGH!

How can one dislike a film that entertains throughout? In english, this movie title means ‘The engagement is on monday’.  There is no surprise in the plot line; all of it is revealed in the title.  The story is about the making of an engagement and the joys and troubles involved.  Senna Hegde pulls off a regular story with exceptional craft. The highlight of the film is its climax.  The climax offers no pomp and show, no tearful departures, no melodramatic breakdowns, no revolutions, no rebellions, no glamour, not even the promised engagement. This film is a must watch not because it is extraordinary, but because it is very ordinary, and the brilliance is entirely in the balance the filmmaker maintained throughout.

KURUP, THE MOVIE; DULQUER’S ATTEMPT TO CONQUER CINEMASCOPE FILMMAKING LEAVES AUDIENCES EMOTIONLESS

THIS PERIOD MOVIE COMES WITH COMPLETE GRANDEUR; GRAND SETS, STYLE, A GOOD CAST, LEAVES NO STONE UNTURNED IN PRODUCTION, BUT FAILS IN ITS EDITING AND COMPOSITION. DQ DOES NOT BECOME KURUP, KURUP BECOMES DQ.

Dulquer remains Dulquer, we recognize him and his methods in all his movies and he repeats himself once again.  The actor lacks gravitas in his dialogue delivery and intonation.  Can style and glamour make up for lack of method acting in a role like this?  Did we expect more?
