Telangana Unit Chief of the state’s Congress faction Rewant Reddy who made a derogatory reference to senior national leader of the party Shashi Tharoor withdrew his remarks and has apologise to the Thiruvananthapuram MP. He tweeted on Thursday saying that he has spoken to the leader to withdraw the remarks. Responding to the tweet, Mr Tharoor said “I received a gracious call from @revanth_anumula to apologise for what was said. I accept his expression of regret & am happy to put this unfortunate episode behind us.”
According to a media report, the Telangana leader had called Tharoor a ‘donkey’, and that he hoped Tharoor would be expelled from the party. The congress cadre and other leaders were outraged by the statement, and slammed Reddy for being disrespectful to the national leader. The state leader had first denied the allegations and accused the IT minister of the state K T Rama Rao of tweeting ‘fake news’.
